185 pound, 20%b.f. Dear god!
Anyone out there that can give me some sound advice as to how many blocks I should be eating, I would forever be in your debt. I also have a question about the protein intake, everywhere you turn, its at least 1 gram of protein per b.w. What I've notice eating at 4 block meals, I'm not even coming close to the "suggested protein level"

Anyone out there with advice? Some of their own experience. Also any suggestions of cheaper food to make up the meals. I've noticed the zone diet can get pretty expensive.

Long winded post, but I'm desperate to get some answers.

180 @ 20% bf = 144 lbm (lean body mass)

144 x 0.7 (suggested activity factor for CF)= 101 grams of protein

101/7= 14 blocks This is if you want to go zone.

The BB rags will often quote 1 gram per lb of lean body weight so then you could go up to 145 grams. If I were a male and 20% BF I would shoot for the lower number.

Math challenged moment

185@20% bf = 148

148x0.7= 104

104/7= 15 blocks so 15 blocks should be about right for you unless you do a lot more than CF and if you are 20% BF I doubt that is the case, so start at 15 blocks.

I don't know what your other stats are (age, height, etc.) but I was about 185# and a little over 20% BF when I started CF in July of last year. I started the Zone on a 16 block diet in September, and now I am just under 10% BF and weigh 160# +/- 2#. I am 37 years old and 5'7".
I believe the Zone works, but you really have to throw yourself into it and stay away from the unfavorable carbs.

PS: in addition to getting lean, my benchmark WODs have all improved over that span.

Is there a problem to eating more protein than required? Say I eat 150 grams of protein (I'm 175 dunno about BF% but must be somewhat high-ish, at least 20), but still mantaining calorie intake moderate (under 2,000 cals). Will I still lose fat? Or do I really have to focus on eating close to the recommended protein grams (according to calculations) ??
