Ohio bar sleeve question
Hey guys,

Ive had my ohio bar for a week and just noticed that one side is spinning far less than the other. When I spin the sleeve without weight it sounds like its rubbing up against the shaft and stops pretty quickly. By comparison the other side spins perfectly, and I hear a clicking which I assume is from the bushing.

This is my first time buying a good bar so I'm not sure if this is something to be worried about.

Any suggestions on how to get the other side spinning properly?

Re: Ohio bar sleeve question
A week old bar shouldn't slow down like that. Something isn't right. Email Rogue, they'll take care of it right away. They always do.

Matt - Just email us and we will get you taken care of. As long as the bar sleeves spin it is fully functional.

Important thing to remember on bushing bars. The ride surface is a bronze bushing riding on the bar shaft. When the sleeves spin and turn freely then the bar is functioning as designed. You may see some differences between sleeves but I assure you we run some very tight tolerances on the sleeve assembly.

99/100 times any time the sleeves slow down it is just because the bar is dry inside. Shouldn't have that issue right out of the gate but over time and depending on the climate you may need to drop some lubrication in the bar end.

We have always said the easiest way to do this is by putting some 3:1 oil or Tri-Flow around the sleeve/bar shaft joint and working it in, then let sit vertical over night. Swap to the other end the following night.

A bushing bar won't spin like a bearing bar but should turn freely. Over time you get dust etc down in there and it just needs cleaned out.

We are planning on offering a cleaning kit for barbells so you can keep them as clean as your shotgun barrel if you want!

Hope that helps thanks!
