Sheila,

Found this in the "comments" section:

back squat is a squat with a barbell racked across your back

Sharon,
Thank you very much. I have not yet discovered the "comments" section.
It is great to "see" other women here. This is an incredible program and I am loving it.(could be the torture element that I am putting my kids through!!)

cheers

Can someone explain 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps? Is this max weight for 7 reps?

Neal Thompson 01-13-2006 08:13 AM

Brad-

The idea is to do a couple of warm-up sets and then for the seven singles you are looking to do the maximum weight you can and increase each set as you go.

I did yesterday's WOD using the Smith machine as my gym has no squat racks and I wouldn't feel safe or comfortable trying to increase weight without spotters or support. Later that day I read in the comments section that using the Smith machine for back squats is ill advised. Since my gym doesn't have a squat rack and I'm not going to be rigging up anything in my home garage to simulate one, would you recommend using lighter weights with more reps or some other substitution?
