Crossfit Stretching
 
Has anyone developed a site like crossfit.com, crossfitendurance, crossfitfootball, etc. that addresses stretching?

I'm thinking a daily stretching routine that is constantly varying, maybe tailor it so it relates to the main site WODs?

I'm just throwing the idea out there. I'd love to make the site myself, but I'm just not that well versed in stretching. Does anyone else think something like this would be beneficial? I find myself just doing the same old stretches day after day.

that would be nice... I really need to increase my flexibility, and it would be nice to have a stretch 'WOD' to help along those lines.

While I enjoy stretching from a "old guy, injury" perspective, I think its pretty controversial that stretching helps performance...actually, I think its pretty clear that it doesn't.

So if you are coming from a rehab/to establish normal ROM then it may have a following...Kelly Starrett has some awesome PNF videos in the CFJ and posts on his affiliate blog.

I'm not thinking stretching prior to the WOD (dynamic stretching, yes, static, no), but maybe afterwards to help increase flexibility.

do some searches on PNF stretching. Pavel's book "relax into stretch" is pretty good, if you ignore the Pavel filler stuff.
Stretching pre workout is not smart, even if they said it was in gym class....

yup, I know. for wrestling, we do 'dynamic stretching', which really isn't stretching so much as it is doing an exagerated version of the functional movements we'll be doing during practice/competition. Lots of warm up before that, and then things like squats, lunges, reverse lunges, rolls, bear crawls, army crawls, etc. we don't do static stretching for warm up, as there have been many studies we (the coaching staff) have looked at detailing the not-so-greatness of static stretching.

however, if something is limiting your rom, it is probably a good idea to stretch it out beforehand at the beginning of the workout.

stretching out the hip flexors generally helps in vertical jump testing

This is probably a widely know answer, but what are a few good or just one good stretch for the hip flexor?

Also, I always have muscle soreness that occurs when I run or row which is located around the area of the first belt loop to the right of my buckle on my right leg. Seems like a muscle or tendon that connects my hips and thighs. Anyone know what that is? I'm sure you guys enjoy my scientific explantation of the location. I may need to post this in injury section.

The Sampson stretch. It's part of the CF warm up.
