I know, shocking, right? But when you are hungry enough to kill someone and it's your only choice, you get some Chicken McNuggets. And yea, they are fried in vegetable oil, and yea, they have 100mg of salt per nugget, if you do the math- meaning a twenty-piece has TWO GRAMS of salt, which will make you thirstier than :censored:, but I noticed something good about them.

Their carbohydrate/protein ratio is near perfect!

More fat for strict zone, but still, not bad for desperate measures.

Ingredient list in the cappucino flavor that I'm eating now: Organic Coconut Milk, Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Coffee, Organic Vanilla Extract. They come clean about a teeny bit of Guar gum in the coconut milk, in big print with an explanation of what it is and why they do it.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to switch over to this from ice cream permanently, and I love my ice cream...

I realise that the nuts in the paleo diet make up for a huge amount of the fat content in the diet, and am wondering for some helpful tips on how i can help replace the nuts if i am to go through with the diet and maybe attempt Melissa Urbans 'Change your life in 30 Days'
Any help would be much appreciated

Hey guys, some very useful info came up from Nancy's last blood work thread. So I thought I'll put mine on the table and see if anyone has any insights.

Now and (13-June-2006)

Glucose: 92 (102)
Cholesterol: 190 (189)
Triglycerides: 66 (147)
HDL: 48.8 (50.7)
LDL: 127 (108)

Not worried about the rise in LDL at all. Since my Trigs were cut down below 100 I was expecting my LDL to be overestimated. When using the corrected formula (from here) (wfs) my LDL dropeed to 112.

I'm pretty happy with these. Seems like nothing major has changed other than Trigs shifting to a much better place. I attribute this to much lower carb consumption since Paleo dieting.

The only two results slightly out of range were:
Urea: 44 mg/dl
Uric acid: 7.7 mg/dl
Should I be worried about these?

Still waiting for the lab to get back on vitamin D status.

YAY PALEO :pepper:

I'm not sure how I should have phrased this in the search function but I typed "calories" into it and didn't yield any results relevant to my question. If the thread is in there hidden somewhere, I'm sorry, I apologize for my lack of diligence (blame the ADD) but...

I'm confused as to how much I should be eating. The basal metabolic rate calculator assigned me 1,500 calories (if I were bedridden, which I am not).

For now, my only physical activity is CrossFit. I'm trying to figure out how much I should be eating since I occasionally feel lightheaded when I stand up (which I can attribute to either under-eating or low blood pressure), but I wouldn't want to be eating too much because while I definitely do want to gain muscle, I don't need excess fat as this would tip me over into "overweight."

According to online calculators (I don't have any calipers so I had to use tape measurements), my lean body mass is around 118-120 pounds. I'm at 147 pounds right now. Approximately how much should I be eating to maintain/lose weight/etc.?

Should one vary the amount of calories one takes in during the off days? I know the body recovers/grows/gets stronger on off days but would it be unreasonable to cut back calories since there is no working out on that day or should the calorie intake be consistent regardless?

Would this have different implications based on different goals? Strength gains vs. GPP training?

In my particular case, I need/burn about 2700 cal/day on days I work out. I am doing CFSB and taking in 4000 cal/day to accelerate gains in strength. On Off Days I only need about 2200 cal/day. What if on Off Days I went down to 3000 cal? That would still be a significant calorie overage.

Thoughts?

Hey I need some of you Crossfit Nutrition nerds (I say that in a loving way) to take a look at my diet. Below is an outline of my typical day of eating. I weigh about 197lbs and want to maintain weight around 195-200. So far this diet has been working well for me. I have been maintaining weight and making decent strength and conditioning progress. However, I feel like I should be recovering better and have less joint stiffness and aches. I wondered if I need more Fats in my diet. If so, how should I add more fats to the below diet.

Meal 1:
Can of Tuna
Oatmeal Squares Cereal and Milk
Coffee

Meal 2:
Either Leftover dinner (Chicken fajitas, chicken/rice/brocoolie, etc.)
or
Turkey Sandwhich - about 5oz of turkey lunch meat on two extra large slices of Whole grain wheat with light mayonaise

Snack 1:
Apple, 1.5oz beef jerky, handful of almonds

Post workout:
chocalate milk or 12oz 1% milk +scoop of protein + banana

Meal 3:
Chicken fajitas or chicken/brown rice/brocoolie or salmon/brown rice/brocolli

Snack 2:
12oz 1% milk +scoop of protein + banana

I think this question has not been asked before.

When looking at the Zone Charts available in these forums, the amount of substance (let's say Tomato) we have to eat is specified in Cups, not in Ounces or Grams, while that is not the case with meat or fish. Why Is that? Is there any Chart that uses weight instead of volume for all the ingredients?

So, after a few weeks of switching over to a high fat paleo/zone diet I have been struck with the evil steatorrhea. Robb wolf specifically warns of this in "42 Ways to Skin the Zone," and suggests taking enzymes and probiotics to combat this effect. However, nothing is said as to which types, how much, which brands, etc. Any suggestions on this end? Also, would an increase in fiber help? I'm eating fairly fiber rich veggies currently, but can bump it up with a supp if need be. Help! Bathroom runs are becoming a dreaded necessity.
