Hi everyone,

Around 1 year ago I attempted a 1RM on the turkish get up (50Kg, 110# +-). On the way up I felt my right shoulder "give" and go from an active position to a more retracted position. I completed the rep but had a slight pain straight afterwards around the top most point of the shoulder blade (see pic). I waited around 1 week to see if it would improve but it didn't.

I went to a physio and basically she said I strained my supraspinatus and possibly subluxated my shoulder. A movement that hurt was when i tried to touch the bottom of the back of my neck with my right hand (with the elbow behind the back). She also gave me some stretches and 1 strengthening exercise to do.

Anyways, I am now at a point that I can basically do most things with no pain - weighted pull ups, bar muscle ups, push ups and light pushsing exercises. However heavy pressing (heavy for me, that is) or bench pressing can leave the shoulder quite sore. The stretching does help when this happens.

The stretches she gave me were what I assume to be a posterior deltoid stretch (press the right elbow to the chest with the left arm) with the right elbow both straight and bent (two sstretches) as well as a rotational one.

I just started benching and pressing light dumbbells and hoping to slowly bring it up but I'm not sure if this is a good approach.

a little info on me - 20y/o , weigh 220#,

If anyone has any expiriences with this and how I can get it back so I can press heavy I would be fairly pleased to say the least.

cheers ya'll!

Hurt my leg (worn shoes) a couple weeks back and it simply doesn't want to heal up. Also, my shoulders are sore nonstop this past week. I sat back and realized I hadn't taken anything beyond one rest day a week since this past July.
How long do you take off to fully recover? I was thinking a week but I'm afraid to fall behind. I've got a very important PT test coming up and can't slack off. Productive advice is appreciated.

I just got done doing Elizabeth, and while lifting the barbell up from a dead-lift to my chest (just before squatting) I would get a sharp pinching pain that started in my right wrist and shoot down my arm.

It's hard to describe, but it felt like as I did the swinging motion upwards, a taught tendon was moving and being forced over a sharp bump. It would almost make a popping feel as it was being released. It was not a show stopper by any means, but it did make me wince every time, x21, x15, x9.

I've noticed this before but ignored it, hoping it will go away. Has anyone else ever experienced this, or heard of it?

Thanks!

Lower Back Pain

This is much longer than I thought it was. I started crossfit about eight months ago. I love it. I ditched my normal weight routine in the afternoon and decided to go with CFF. My days look like this, 0500 Crossfit WOD, 0730-1100 work at my desk and then 1100-1200 CFF and finish out my day at the shop. At some point and time doing heavy snatch on the CFF WoD I felt something in my lower back twist. It felt like a lightning bolt shot through my back. I felt zero pain just a weird tingle. I have always been an athlete so thought little of it.

A week later doing 2 pood swings on the CF WoD I felt some minor pain in my lower back and toughed it out. Now after about 2 months of grunting through it I think I am really hurt. I went to BAS and they gave me some muscle relaxers. No dice. I went on my own for some acupuncture last Thursday and that worked wonders. Yesterday I was doing some power snatches again, much lighter than when the injury occurred and this morning my back is knotted up yet again. I skipped my morning WoD because it is my wife’s B-Day and she wanted to sleep in. (She is my partner in the morning) So no morning stretch.

Could it just be tight from not stretching this morning? I sleep on a tempropedic mattress. I am 6’5” and 225. When I lay on that thing I compress the hell out of it. Was thinking of putting a sheet of plywood under it to stiffen up the mattress. I am not used to sleeping on a really soft surface and now that the mattress is broke in, it feels much softer than when first purchased. I am leaving for TBS soon for the WO basic school and hope I am not injured when I get there. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have been doing crossfit for 3 years, and have a long history of sports playing college basketball & h/s basketball/baseball. I am RIGHT handed and the issue is in my LEFT shoulder. I did not do any real shoulder exercises outside of the pull-ups I do in my warm-up on Saturday or Sunday. Sunday morning I woke up with pain in my shoulder in the position of sleeping on my side. The pain in the shoulder is not constant and only occurs with certain movement. The pain is sharp and feels as if it is set deep in the shoulder, it almost feels as if it needs to crack or pop back into place. I can do an HSPU or Pull-up without any real discomfort, so that particular ROM is ok. The pain comes when trying to lift my arms upwards from the front or the side, particularly if i bend my elbow at 90 degrees so the arm is parallel to the ground and try to lift it. There is no pain if i do a punching motion (left jab). Trying to decide if I should head to the ortho/sports med doc this afternoon.

Please help!

So I have gone a bit too intense for myself to handle the past few weeks, and as a result i have an IT strain in both knees and gymnast tendonitis in both wrists. What exercises can I do for the next few weeks?

The only exercises I can think of are hanging knee raises on ab straps, situps, back extensions, and maybe swimming.

Is swimming good for you while you have tendonitis?

Please any help would be great! Not doing Xfit is killing me, and it has only been 3 days. I can't go on anymore!! But I know rest is a Must, being that not resting is what got me here.

My Patella Tendon is in pain at both the insertion and origin points whenever I do any type of leg workout. Originally I got a 20% tear on my Rectus Femoris and hit a nerve in my Vastus Medialis causing it not to fire during walking or running. When it was looked at, i was told i wouldnt have surgery because it was too small of a tear and they couldnt find much anything besides a minute tear in my Patella Tendon and that should go away. Well after 8 years, a physical therapist, 3 personal trainers and a lot of wasted energy, I still have this pain in my Patella Tendon. Ive attempted to get into Crossfit several times but after a week or so I have to stop because of pain in my knee that doesnt seem to stop unless I rest it and take a few advil. If anyone has any recommendations as to what kind of exercises i can do and how often, I would be very thankful. Ultimately I want to get back to running again, something I havent been able to do successfully for the past 8 years. I'm pretty much willing to do anything necessary.

After being on and off (mostly off) of crossfit due to sickness and life, I did the Halloween workout 2 sundays ago (November 1st)

25 Squats
25 Push-ups
25 Pull-ups
25 Sit-ups
50 Squats
50 Push-ups
50 Pull-ups
50 Sit-ups
75 Squats
75 Push-ups
75 Pull-ups
75 Sit-ups

I quit on the pullups on about 30 reps into the 75 due to hands tearing, bit finished the rest of the workout. I was obviously tired, but nothing felt too abnormal at the time. The next morning I woke up, my arms and back were super stiff and very sore. I was unable to fully straighten my arms due to stiffness for a solid 3-4 days after. At first I was concerned that it might be rhabdo, but the pain wasn't really that bad and my urine was normal so I figured it must just be a really bad case of DOMS. My arms and back were stiff for a solid 7-9 days, so I have refrained from doing pull ups for the last 2 weeks to give everything a chance to rest.

I did the filthy 50 tonight, and my pullups were incredibly weak still. It feels very much like my arms and back are still fatigued, so I'm getting a little concerned that it has been almost two full weeks now and I'm not even close to back to full strength. For comparison, I can do 12-15 dead-hang chest-to-bar pullups normally, but I was struggling to even do 2 or 3 tonight, and even jumping pullups were challenging.

Has anyone had any soreness/weakness last this long? I'm starting to get a little concerned that my strength has not returned yet.

So, I haven't been around or doing much the last few months because of some chronic pain issues. I finally went to the docs last week for Eval/Treatment and hopefully I'll get over the hump and back to training.

Went to the Pod. and got my foot X-Rayed and lo and behold, I apparently have a Sharks Tooth growing out of the bottom of my heel. I honestly though the foot pain was just the result of being almost 40 and big and was something I would just have to deal with. Some people get Plantar Fasciitis without a "Heel Spur" but mine went untreated a bit longer than recommended so I got a cortisone injection right then as well as some orthotics for my shoes. It has helped tremendously and if I still feel good next month, I may not need surgery, but we'll see.

Next was the Orthopod. Again, I thought the Knee pain was only a result of LOTS of physical activity, age, and maybe arthritis. Well, both knees got Xrayed with no damage found, so its "Tendinitis". Got a new type of Medication delivered through something called iontophoresis which eliminated the need for any needles, and starting to feel better. I still plan on joining an affiliate come Hell or high water in December, and hopefully will be able to work out pain free!

Till then, I do WODs every 3rd day and sub out anything including jumping and try to get right.

So the moral of the story is, if you feel pain, don't ignore it, it'll only get worse. Get it checked, get treated, and don't procrastinate.

On Monday I was doing my normal warm-up. It's similar to the CFWU, but I include 5 minutes of Jump Rope and DU practice and GH sit-ups rather then abmat. I skipped any Pull-ups because that was part of my WOD.

After the few exercises, I moved to the Glute Ham Developer. On the first rep I feel this pop in my stomach. Since then I've got a sharp pain that is about 3inches left of my naval.

It doesn't hurt when I'm sitting here relaxing, but with any strain or full extension I get a sharp pain. For example, any pushups, pull-ups, or even extending both arms fully above my head and leaning back hurts. It is a sharp pain that goes away whenever I relax my ab muscles.

On a scale of 1-10 I'd say it's a 6. It's not enough to make me stop doing whatever exercise is causing the pain, but it is very uncomfortable.

Does anyone have any idea what the injury is and what course or treatment I should follow? Will continuing to workout make the problem worse?

Thank you for any info on the subject.
