View Full Version : Palm injury from O-lift

Just wondering how common this is: ever hurt your palm when you rack the bar during O-lifts or power clean/snatch? I had this the first time I learn the moves more than a year ago. last wednesday, for some reason, my left hand was bend outwards when I did the snatch. luckily the weight wasn't heavy, but it was enough to inflict some light pain while under pressure especially where the thumb joins the palm(what izzit it called? palm ball?) I rested since then and on sunday, when doing C&J, it was quite painful when I jerked. I'm not in any pain right now and it feels ok unless I apply heavy pressure(like supporting my body.) so any home remedy so I can recover faster and do O-lifts again this week? suggestions and a brief lecture on palm anatomy are most welcomed!

If you've been keeping your wrist straight all along, you probably tweaked it when it went into a position that it wasn't accustomed to, even though correct. The wrist should be flopped over at the top of the snatch. See the picture on the left.
